Smashing Pumpkins To Play Benefit For Madina Lakes's Matthew Leone

Posted: 21 Jul 2010 10:15 AM PDT

Matthew

The Smashing Pumpkins will be playing a rare intimate show next week in order to raise funds for Matthew Leone, the Madina Lake bassist who suffered severe head injuries late last month as he tried to help a woman being assaulted by her husband.

The show will take place at the Metro in Chicago, which happens to be the hometown of both Madina Lake and the Pumpkins. Fellow Chicagoans Kill Hannah are also on the bill.

Leone suffered his injuries several weeks ago in Chicago. As his twin brother Nathan wrote on his Tumblr, Matthew intervened when he witnessed a man severely beating his wife. Matthew successfully broke up the altercation and called the police. At that moment, he was attacked from behind by the man. The man has since been taken into custody.

Matthew underwent initial procedures soon after. This morning at 630am Matthew went back into surgery.

Matthew has no health insurance to cover his rapidly escalating health care costs. A fund at Sweet Relief has been set up to support Matthew financially. As stated above, the Smashing Pumpkins, one of the most successful bands to ever emerge from Chicago, are stepping up, putting their time and effort where their mouth is.

The benefit show will take place Tuesday, July 27. Tickets (in pairs) will be awarded via $10 raffle entries. You may order as many raffle entries as you'd like. Additionally, a number of more expensive VIP tickets, some of which include meet-and-greets with the Pumpkins, are available.

The show is sure to be a special one. Again, all ticket info is here, and Matthew's Sweet Relief fund info is here. A poster for additional Chicago-area benefits to be held later in August is below. Info for those can be found at the band's Facebook page.

The Worm: Things Aren't As They Seem in The Paper Melody's New Video

The Paper Melody

Who has time to watch music videos all day? Well, besides us here at Fuse. We know you're busy so The Worm brings you the most visually mind-blowing vids you might have missed otherwise. Don't thank us, just watch!

Today we're watching "Incandescent" from The Paper Melody. Is it just me, or does it feel like videos with actual story-lines are few and far between these days? It's rewarding to see the form isn't lost in the mess of glamor shots and dance routines we see frequently. Take note of the dramatic lighting and props as they are what bring this video to life.

Click through to watch the eerie video and read some behind-the-scenes info from the band.

You've seen the video, now read more from the band:

"The first shoot day came on a gloomy winter morning. Despite the glum weather there was an air of excitement and nervousness that could not be stifled. The first shot began with Sean in his room, and Jill happening upon him. The first shot saw the crew and cast falling deathly silent, but after the first take we saw the footage and knew we were making magic. The nerves left and we got down to work. After four very long days our video had been shot!

"The song expresses the desire to be seen for all you are and the frustration that comes with not being able to shine like you want because of something holding you back. That something can be different for each person and the song shares the struggle that we all have gone through but also points out the hope and strength that we have within us to overcome darkness. The video shows the search for and discovery of belonging... Finding your place to shine. This is how it's been with the band; a lot of searching for our right place in music, discovery of our passion and the way we express that passion. The video utilizes a feeling of fantasy and magic to present the wonder that comes with finding your way. To sum it up, we wanted to portray to our listeners that no matter how invisible and weak you may feel, there is strength and beauty inside each of us!" - The Paper Melody

Guns n' Roses Announce Only U.S. Date of 2010

Posted: 21 Jul 2010 08:40 AM PDT

Gnr

Guns n' Roses have been nothing less than road dogs the past few years, playing sold out shows across the globe and even in North America (remember that winter tour of Canada?). But for the past four years, one place you'd never find Axl et al rocking out was the United States. That all changes next month with a show in... South Dakota.

That's right, rev up those hogs, Guns n' effin' Roses are rocking the Rock n' Rev Festival in Sturgis, South Dakota. The announcement was made yesterday. On Facebook, the news has already racked up over 3,000 'Likes,' so you know people are getting excited.

Rock n' Rev, for those who don't know, is a five day festival happening August 9-13. The website trumpets '20 bands over 5 days' which may not seem like a lot, but the names are all fairly big. In addition to Guns, who headline the 13th, Godsmack, Creed, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, and Wolfmother are among the biker-approved bands heading to the Badlands. The headline on the site also touts, rather prominently, that there will be '12 bars.' Either the clientele is projected to be a thirsty one, or those must be some sweet bars.

Regradless, this will be Guns n' Roses' only U.S. stop on the 2010 leg of their ongoing Chinese Democracy world tour. Find tickets here, and get ready to be welcomed to the jungle, as well as to one of twelve nice bars. Psych yourself up by watching this:
